The Sioux Falls Visual Arts Commission is coordinating the creation and placement of original sculpture as bike racks through Bike Smart: Sioux Falls Artistic Bicycle Parking. This program promotes the sponsorship and installation of artist-designed bike racks throughout Sioux Falls. Artist-created bike racks beautify our city with visual art and provide parking for bicycles. Encouraging bicycle use is a smart way to keep Sioux Falls clean and reduce our energy consumption.

The public is invited to attend the Bike Smart Kick-Off outdoor event to be held Tuesday, September 14, 2010, 9:00 am, City Hall, located at 9th Street and Dakota Avenue. Mayor Huether, Visual Arts Commission members, and Bike Smart program artists will be present.
