A special day of shopping, art and entertainment downtown! Enjoy a full day and evening of culture and activity. Visit a variety of retailers, artist venues and fabulous restaurants, plus music and drinks at all your favorite hot spots!
September's theme is Chalk the Walk. Participating businesses invite you to stop in during the day, grab a piece of sidewalk chalk and draw something outside of their store on the sidewalk. Be sure to check out local artists drawing with sidewalk chalk downtown that evening.

Bead Co - meet artists Mary Payton Daniels of Paytonology and Cherise Smith Mayer of Sioux Falls from 6 - 8pm. 319 S Phillips Ave.
Sioux Falls artist Mary Payton Daniels works primarily in glass and metal. Pieces from Paytonology Studios range in size and scope from larger sculptural glass, to glass and metal jewelry. You can find her at the Sidewalk Arts Festival September 11, 2010
Cherise Smith is a recent graduate of Northern State University with a Bachelors of Art in Fine Art. Her current exhibition, Taking Flight, is a collection of bird imagery and sculpture that reflects her love for nature and transition from a student to a professional. This series is about becoming the bird in each piece and letting yourself take flight.

Great Outdoor Store - Blake Thompson (ex GOS staffer) from "Moose Friendly, LLC." will be doing chalking on the 10th street sidewalk. He will also be selling his "Moose" t-shirts. Come and vote in the store photo contest. Customers will be voting for their favorite photo from 3 age categories. 201 E 10th St.

The Market on Phillips - hosting a Wine Tasting...$5 for 5 Wines, free with a bottle purchase! Also, Sarah Karlstad, an art student at Augustana who specializes in oil paintings, will display her artistic talents with sidewalk chalk in front of the store from 6 - 8pm.

Sticks & Steel - Join us in welcoming artist Valerie Miller. Born and raised in Iowa, Valerie grew up surrounded by farms and animals. Today her paintings portray “The Girls”, cows from various fields across the country. Her most recent collection in includes dogs and cats and are nick named “Tiny Tailwaggers!” Enjoy refreshments to include SDSU ice cream and participate in our sidewalk chalk art contest. Valerie will judge the best work throughout the afternoon and evening. The winner will receive a $50 gift certificate!
Washington Pavilion - Free Kirby Science Discovery Center Unlimited Cinedome Movies: $5.00 from 5pm - 8pm. Each Free First Friday we will feature a lab party in the Discovery Den in the Kirby Science Discovery Center. Check out Yuck Science! Cost is only $1.00 for each child. Parents are free!
